Last night, Mary led us in an introduction to the work of Loch Kelly, author of Shift Into Freedom. Here is an interview with Kelly in which he gives an overview of the process of what he calls “unhooking” awareness. He uses a series of guided meditations that he calls “glimpses”. Here is one of the glimpses (called “No Problem”) that Mary guided us through last night (thank you Mary!). It was quite powerful, and I look forward to experimenting with these glimpses during the guided portions of our future second Wednesday of the month Concentration Practice periods. Also, we will take up this book for our next text in Appamada Austin’s Monday night Depth in Practice Study Group (in which we participate via video conference). The group will probably begin reading Shift Into Freedom on Monday, May 29th.
See you next Wednesday morning for zazen at 6:10 am, and that evening at 6:10 for Gaia meditation, walking meditation, and zazen.
