Lojong Slogan 12: Drive All Blames Into One

It’s hard to believe, but a year has gone by since Appamada Alpine opened for weekly zazen. That brings us to our twelfth Lojong slogan, which we took up on┬áDecember 6th. It packs a powerful punch and it may well be the most well-known of the slogans… Drive All Blames Into One.

“Drive all blames into one means that you take the full appreciation and full responsibility for everything that arises in your life, no matter whose fault it is.”

Fischer, Norman. Training in Compassion: Zen Teachings on the Practice of Lojong (pp. 51-52). Shambhala. Kindle Edition.

You may be thinking, “I already know how to blame myself for everything, so how can this slogan be of help?” Before you pass on this one, please read what Norman Fischer has to say about this slogan.
